The Child and the River
He runs holding
blossoming branches
in his hands,
on the banks of the sleepless river,
to build a sand castle
where there is no one around.
The river:
- Child, you are too young,
to look deep into my water.
The child:
- I'll go to school
and I'll draw you
on a piece of paper.
The river:
- If I think about it,
when you play in my water,
you look very happy singing your song.
While so many grownups
wash their boots in my water,
you, you never hurt me or do me wrong.
The child:
- I come to you to play a little
and make you the king of my castle,
hoping you'll be so kind
and you won't destroy it
with your waves
when I build it.
